Little Citizen of the World and Puppy Love

Grandma Sharon and Poppa Pablo have great taste in clothing and gave Reuben this cute little outfit... ahhhhh!

Reuben has two puppies. While they are very aware of and interested in him, he has yet to really notice them... but Colby is getting him ready to play with them as shown by this picture (notice that Reuben is riding Kitty like she is a horse). Fun times

Best "unsolicited advice" to date...

Last week, we went to a bubba-que with Hollie's work friends. It was a lot of fun and led to a fabulous new find--Tom, who happens to be the most terrific tech guy out there, brought his wife Rachel, who asked us "would you like some unsolicited advice about taking care of Reuben?" and of course we said "YES!!!" because Rachel has 3 great kids and knows a thing or two about parenting.

She recommended the ERGO Baby Carrier (we have several other popular carriers and slings and none of them seem to be to Reuben's liking). We went home and bought a black and tan ERGO from: http://www.myfavoritebabycarrier.com/
Free shipping, no tax and it arrived in 2 days!

Reuben has gone from this:

Thanks Rachel, we welcome your advice anytime!

Bedtime Ritual

Reuben is 6 weeks old and we have finally got a fairly consistent going to bed ritual. We feed him, wash his face, change his diaper, and then rock him and read.

The first few weeks, we read the book Pajama Time (thanks Heidi).

This week we started reading Where the Red Fern Grows. Hollie cried while reading the first chapter to him and Colby worried that it may be "too sad" a story for such a little man. Terri M. assured us that Reuben could handle it and inflection while reading was a good thing. So, we are on page 17 today and he is pretty cute while being read to... he crinkles his forehead and looks intently at the reader.... we are totally enamored with this little man!

NEVER say NEVER!

This one is for our dear friend Cindy M., who warned Reuben's momma about best laid plans and actual happenings with children!

It's 10:35 PM, and Reuben is.....

Sleeping in his crib? NO

Sleeping in his Play and Pack? NO

Sleeping in momma and daddy's bed... oh my-YES!
At least he is in a safe little co-sleeper bed (that's for you Carol!)

Growing Fast

Reuben's parents are many things, petite is not one of them however... Surprisingly, Reuben was a smaller baby. Consequently, we didn't have any itty bitty outfits for the little guy. His Nana Julie rectified the situation, very quickly and bought him some cute newborn sized clothes so he wouldn't drown in his 3 and 6 month sized duds. We loved dressing him in his tiny outfits. Sadly, his days of wearing newborn size are almost over, as shown by the following picture. Check out the belly fat!

Here's Reuben sitting up on the couch, watching the Olympic swimming events with the aide of his "boppy" pillow (thanks Terri and Amber)... doesn't he look SO BIG?

2 Firsts during week #5

Drum roll......

Today, Reuben rolled from his stomach to his back... unassisted!

On Monday, Reuben found his thumb... and made a perfect little fist with his thumb sticking out and he sucked it like a pro...

WOW... he is growing up fast!

Ta Da!

Party like a rock star

Reuben's aunties had a party for him Friday, August 1st! Thanks to everyone who was able to come to the party and help with the festivities... especially Reuben's Auntie Leanne who hosted the shin dig at her house (which included mowing the forest down)! Since Leanne was the photographer, we have no picture of her from the party... but next time--we will be sure to snap one of her (she's quite photogenic)!

The following are selected pics from the fun night.

Since it was ALL ABOUT REUBEN, the bib was appropriate (thanks Auntie Julie)

Aunties Julie and Terri

Auntie Amber

Gunnison Girl (aka Mishele)

The Newlyweds (Max and Heidi)

Mom and Auntie Terri

Auntie Julie and John

Rob (who brought Reuben's Mom and Dad together...)

The Crusader (Allan) and his lovely wife, Lynda

We have been trying to figure out who Reuben takes after (mom or dad). Some have said, "he doesn't look like either of you" and after looking at how dorky we look in this picture, maybe it's for the best!

Auntie Carol (who is much cuter than this picture) and Jack

Kirk-ules

Angie (master of baby soothing!)

Rich (demonstrating his skills worthy of KEPT MAN status)
